The Third Electric Cable: A Question of When

The Nantucket Energy Office sponsored a presentation by National Grid on December 4, 2013 to address construction of a third electric cable to the island from the mainland.   While it is not currently being proposed, projections indicate another undersea electric cable will be necessary in the near future due to electric load growth.  Even though conservation efforts have slowed this load growth, the large scale development of build-able land outpaces this energy savings.  National Grid's Power Point presentation in its entirety has been made available on the Energy Office website.
